Playground Season: Rijeka, Croatia

Wen we visited Rijeka this summer we also checked out the Kantrida stadium, one of The most unusual stadiums in 2011 according to CNN. This playground is just across form the stadium, very retro - no plastic used...brings up memories.

Just above the playground is Caffe Viva. Neon sign you see from below does not look to promising, and I am not a fan of the decor, but it is very children friendly, service is perfect, coffee is great and the view...oh, THE VIEW!

Playground Season: retro climbing structure

Just look at this retro playground complex! This climbing structure was designed by Ruth Clark Radakovich and Svetozar (Toza) Radakovich in 1960's in an effort to keep their children off the furniture. It was made of galvanized irrigation pipes and it is FANTASTIC:)

PLAYGROUND SEASON: Splash of colour in Bucharest

This photo is a courtesy of Ioana from The Happyholic. Ioana and her works are as colorful and positive as this little playground here. If you want to read more about her super-duper RO+MANIA project, jump over to Eastok Europe, you will see some cool stuff there. Beware, she will tell you NOT to go to Romania and you'll just want to go after.

also did a little summer interview with Ioanna on Eastok Europe, check it out!

Playground Series: State of the art playground in the heart of Belgrade

This playgorund is situated in one of the most beautiful Belgrade parks - Tašmajdan, or simply Taš. It consists of three playgrounds, for kids of different ages. All three are lined with 6 cm thick rubber to avoid injuries if kids fall. I think kids could spend the whole day here without getting bored. The only downside is it is extremely crowded on weekends, we never got on any of the swings:) Maybe next time

PLAYGROUND SEASON: Interactive fountain in Budapest

Not technically a playground, but turns into one during summer months. It is also our favorite place in Budapest when the city concrete heats up. Situated in the middle of the bank district, on Szabadság tér it is perfect for kids to run in and out screaming and go home soaked, or just have a snack and listen to the water.

Playground season - SHOW ME YOUR PLAYGROUND CALLOUT

Finally, the playground season is here. I don't have to put tons of clothes on myself and kids to get out of the house and we can stay outside after daycare. Here in Budapest we go to the playground an luckily for us there are tons. I love the fact that you can find playgrounds in most unexpected places among old buildings or in the shopping area. Most of them are in pretty good condition, fenced and some are equipped with crazy constructions my boys love, like planes, trains or little adrenalin park features.

What is it like in your country? Do you go to the playground or you have your own in your back yard? Please join us in the SHOW ME YOUR PLAYGROUND SERIES! Contact me if you'd like to participate, I'd love to hear from you!

Happy belated spring!:)
